The expound cabinet was likely made at the Gobelins Manufactory, set up in 1662 by Jean-Baptiste Colbert to form decorations for the regal ch?teaux and royal residences, in spite of the fact that it was conceivably made by the regal cabinetmaker Andr?-Charles Boulle in his? workshop at the Louver. The cabinet is veneered with coal black, pewter, tortoiseshell, brass, ivory, horn, and different woods, with drawers of wind wood, painted and overlaid wood figures and bronze mounts. The enhancing plot on the cabinet alludes to the French lord Louis XIV’s military triumphs. The central entryway is enhanced with a board of marquetry appearing the cockerel of France standing triumphant over both the falcon of the Sacred Roman Realm and the lion of Spain and the Spanish Netherlands. On the drawer over the entryway, gilt-bronze military trophies flank a medallion portrait of Louis XIV. Within the Dutch Wars of 1672 to 1678, France battled at the same time against the Dutch, Spanish, and Majestic.
